Caroline Mulroney thinks it’s a disgrace the Ring of Fire development is taking so long.
In an interview with Acadia news, the PC leadership candidate refers to taking part in developing a new bridge between Windsor and Detriot.
She noted how necessary it is for the right people to be in the right positions, in spite of having plenty of political will.
She couldn’t give specifics on when the Ring of Fire would be done, but it would be a priority in her government, adding her business background gives her the qualifications.
As Premier, she plans to double the amount to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund from $100 to $200-million, and changing the eligibility requirements, to build more infrastructure to connect the north to the south. She’s aware of how people in the north feel abandoned by Toronto.
As for what many perceive as a negative regarding her name, she says her father did what he believed was right for Canada as Prime Miinister. However, she maintains she has her own objectives and plans, while maintaining pride in her last name.
Mulroney also plans to address hydro rates and health care problems.
On two separate issues, Patrick Brown finds out today if he’ll be allowed to run as a candidate for leader. He met with party officials last night.
