Thunder Bay’s Volker Kromm agrees with a new report that a record number of people in Ontario are accessing food banks for the first time.
The report says there’s a 20 per cent spike in first time use. The head of the Regional Food Distribution Association says he sees the same thing happening here and calls the situation discouraging.
Kromm says there are a lot of new food bank users being registered at Thunder Bay centres. He attributes the problem to “the poor getting poorer.”
