Thunder Bay is in line to receive more Moderna vaccines from the province next week.
Though it’s not clear how many coronavirus vaccines our health officials will see, Mayor Bill Mauro did get that guarantee in his talks Friday afternoon with the Ministry of Health.
“They couldn’t tell me how much more we would be receiving or for how much longer we would be receiving it but that certainly goes at least part of the way of providing me with some satisfaction for some of the questions that I had going into the discussion,” Mauro says.
The Mayor also pushed the province on why the city wasn’t included in the AstraZeneca vaccine rollout in select pharmacies, indicating that Thunder Bay remains in the Grey-Lockdown zone.
“I was told that these regions were chosen based primarily on their ability to get the vaccine out as quickly and efficiently as possible because of the vaccines expiry date of April 2,” Mauro stated.
Talks about officially designating the city as a provincial hot spot didn’t dominate the conversation. Mayor Mauro feels it’s critical that the province come to the table and provide further assistance.
“Get me more vaccine because we have issues. get me supports because clearly as a Grey Lockdown zone we have issues,” stressed Mauro.
