Moderna Vaccine Authorized As Booster Shot

Health Canada has approved another vaccine as a COVID-19 booster shot.

Moderna’s Spikevax is now authorized as a third dose, after it was submitted for approval in early October. In what is being called a thorough and independent review of the evidence by Health Canada, it has been found the shot meets the safety, efficacy, and quality requirements.

The booster is authorized for people 18 years of age or older, and has to be used at least six months after a person has received their second dose of the vaccine.

The Moderna COVID-19 booster shot is half a dose of the regular vaccine.
