My ex-Mother-In-Law collects Nativity Scenes, she LOVES them. She has some pretty neat ones, I’ll admit. She cycles through them but I know she’s had a Playmobil one, pretty sure she and the boys made a LEGO one at one point, one that is so tiny it fits into a shell, and a neat puzzle like one that fits into itself for storage. I’m not sure she’d be down with this one though! St. Joseph’s Oratory of Mount Royal in Montreal recently unveiled their ‘Hipster’ Nativity Scene and it’s definitely garnering some looks and negative comments! I’ll be honest, I find it pretty funny and if Jesus were to be born today, I find it likely that the scene would be similar. As you can see in the image below, the scene features Mary and Joseph taking a selfie, the Three Wise Men riding up on Segway’s with Amazon gifts under their arms, a solar panel on the stable and more. I don’t think anyone REALLY took it to seriously initially but it seems some folks are not to happy about it!
