Mayor Vows To Make Police Funding A Priority

The mayor is certainly in budget mode these days.

The process will be continuing on Monday with a budget planning meeting where Keith Hobbs and the rest of council will get a reality check from the city manager.

Hobbs says he knows where his priorities lie and that’s to keep the Police Services Board out of the red saying we have to “budget better” and not under fund police so we don’t go into the same situation again next year. Recent budgets have seen murder investigations and stand-offs force the police board into a deficit position

The mayor insists the city remains on good financial footing noting a AA minus rating with Standard and Poors along with good financial management even though he says it has been tough at times. (File photo)
