Mayor Keith Hobbs is defending a slander and libel suit he has brought against lawyer Sandy Zaitzeff.
The suit alleges a video posted online has hurt the mayor’s reputation.
In the action Hobbs says posting the almost six minute video was designed to cause him harm, alleging it was the result of the mayor contacting police about sexual allegations against Zaitzeff.
In an email to our newsroom, Hobbs says he and his wife were responsible for bringing a woman and her 15 year old daughter to police to bring criminal charges against Zaitzeff.
He says the video in question, and the comments it has attracted, have ruined his reputation.
The allegations against Zaitzeff have not been proven in court.
