May the 4th be with Thunder Bay – Darth Vader wants to be our mayor? (Listen Here)

It’s May the 4th – Star Wars Day – and things got a little… galactic on the morning show. Dee managed to get Darth Vader himself on the line, and apparently the Dark Lord of the Sith has big plans for Thunder Bay. Yes – Vader says he wants to run for mayor.

He claims he’s ready to “bring order to the galaxy… starting with the north side,” and insists he’d fix all of the potholes! Whether Thunder Bay is ready for an Imperial takeover is another story, but the Force was definitely strong in the studio today.

You can listen to the full conversation right here.

And because it is May the 4th, here are some quick Star Wars Day fun facts for you:

  • “May the 4th” started as a pun — fans loved saying “May the 4th be with you,” and it eventually became an unofficial holiday celebrated worldwide.
  • The first Star Wars film almost had a totally different title – early drafts called it The Adventures of Luke Starkiller.
  • Darth Vader’s suit sound comes from a scuba regulator – that iconic breathing is literally underwater gear.
  • Chewbacca’s voice is a mix of bears, walruses, lions, and badgers blended together.
  • Yoda was almost played by a monkey wearing a mask before the puppet design won out.
  • Lightsabers weren’t CGI at first – the original trilogy used spinning rods coated in reflective material to catch the light.
  • R2‑D2 originally spoke English in early scripts – with full sentences and attitude – before the beeps and boops were created.
  • Hi (Cześć/Pryvit) I'm Dee, your morning voice on Country 105! Born of Polish and Ukrainian roots, I’ve inherited the sacred talent of feeding people until they burst. When I'm not cooking up a storm, I’m scouring Canada for unique treasures and foraging for mushrooms like it’s a national sport. Come for the country tunes, stay for the stories & snacks!
