Marina overpass set to close as roundabout construction progresses

The Cumberland Street North and North Water Street intersection, as well as the Marina Overpass, are set for an extended closure.

The closure is getting underway on Tuesday to allow for the construction of a roundabout in the intersection.

It is expected that both the intersection and overpass will remain closed until October.

Detours will be in place around the construction.

Access for emergency vehicles and limited truck traffic will be maintained throughout the closure.

Vehicle access to the waterfront will remain available via the Pearl Street entrance, and pedestrian access is available via Camelot Street or the pedestrian overpass.

“We appreciate the public’s patience as we move forward with this important project,” said Senior Project Engineer Brian Newman. “The new roundabout is designed to improve traffic flow and safety at the intersection, and this closure is a necessary step to complete the work.”
