Man Charged After Police Cars Rammed

A 22-year-old man is in police custody following the theft of a truck and damage to police cars in the Nipigon area.

Provincial police say it was Monday night just before 10, when they were called over reports of a stolen pickup truck.

Police say the driver sped around town and rammed two police cars, this after the vehicle was slowed down by a police spike belt.

The driver fled after the vehicle became stuck in a ditch, but police still were able to make the arrest after local residents helped police find the driver.

The Thunder Bay man faces numerous charges including theft, flight from police, and impairment by drugs and alcohol.
