Man facing charges after being found carrying imitation gun

A man is facing charges following a police response to reports of a weapon.

Officers were sent to Cumberland Street North on Sunday evening after receiving reports that a man had been seen with a possible handgun.

Officers were able to locate a suspect matching a given description.

A search of the suspect revealed he was in possession of an imitation firearm and two concealed knives.

As a result, a 35-year-old is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Failure to comply with a probation order (two counts)

The accused remains in custody with a future court date.
