The federal government has approved the use of a psychedelic mushroom as a medical aid.
Health Minister Patty Hajdu tells us Magic Mushrooms will be used for some end of life cancer patients in Canada.
“Four patients applied to Health Canada to use psilocybin in a controlled setting to alleviate the suffering of end of life. After being vetted through Health Canada (the hallucinogen) was approved to be used in those circumstances.”
The health minister explains this decision shows her belief in compassionate care.
Hajdu adds, “Most people in Thunder Bay know that I believe in a compassionate drug policy and I think this decision demonstrates a government that is compassionate.”
