Luxury Vehicle Scam Not Here Yet

There is no fear as yet, that a stolen car scam has arrived in Thunder Bay.

Recently a man was charged in southern Ontario after someone used a fake ID to purchase a $120,000 luxury vehicle.

Police there said it was a recurring issue throughout the province and they were urging all dealers to be aware.

A spokesperson for the Thunder Bay police says identity theft is always a concern, however, they do not see a lot of occurrences here especially with big-ticket items like luxury vehicles.

There have been some cases of people having cell phone accounts opened in their name, but even that the police spokesperson says, is rare.
