Lakehead University is hoping to make the holidays cheery for international students who can’t go home for the holidays.
Spokesperson Sara Melvin explains they get their staff to sign up and then they partner them with students.
Melvin tells us staff involve students in the festivities.
Students are often included in the entire day’s worth of activities like ice skating or other family traditions.
“Which is really great, because then our students get to join them in all of their holiday celebrations, and also experience a Canadian Christmas dinner with them.”
They typically spend some time with LU staff and their families on Christmas Eve, Day and Boxing Day.
