LU Researchers To Study Impacts Of COVID-19

Professors at Lakehead University are getting money to finance research related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three of them will be sharing in over $73,000 in Research of Canada grants for their separate projects.

Rebecca Schiff will examine the challenges of addressing homelessness in rural and remote parts of Canada during a pandemic.

Kathy Kortes-Miller, is going to study the experience of family caregivers of Ontario residents in long-term care during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Karl Skogstad will attempt to learn more about the economic impact of COVID-19 on the economy of Ontario’s northern regions.

The funding will allow the researchers work on their projects for about one year.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
