Lowe’s In Thunder Bay To Close

Lowe’s Home Improvement store at the Intercity Shopping Centre is closing. The company says it is one of three ‘underperforming’ Lowe’s stores in Ontario which it will be shutting down, and one of 34 Lowe’s, Ronas and Reno-Depos across the country which are closing.

The last day of operations will be January 31, 2020. The announcement affects 120 local Lowe’s employees.

Posts on social media indicated the staff were informed before the close of the day yesterday.

Lowe’s became an anchor store at ISC in 2016 once it took over the site from Target after the American retail giant closed all its Canadian stores a year earlier. The building was a Zeller’s store before that.
