Lockdown Is A Dagger: Aiello

The Thunder Bay Boys and Girls Clubs is doing it’s best to adjust to the current lockdown measures.

Executive Director Albert Aiello says the centre has shelved fundraising efforts since the coronavirus pandemic began in March of 2020 and have had to make staff changes.

“We had to make the tough decision to lay off a lot of our staff,” says Aiello. “This latest lockdown is very much a dagger for us. We follow as much as we can the school calendars.”

Aiello does mention when the centre is open, all the kids are grouped by school, age and classroom.

“When the kids arrive, they go directly to their cohort,” Aiello notes “We have very strict cleaning guidelines, all participants have to wear a mask. Our staff is fully equipped with personal protective equipment so it’s a very safe place to be.”
