The Dryden GM Ice Dogs hold down first place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League with 43 points.
That’s after play over the weekend, and teams getting ready to take a two-week break for the holidays.
The Ice Dogs won their only game, a 7-1 victory Friday night against the Red Lake Miners.
Dryden’s game against the Sioux Lookout Bombers was postponed because of poor weather and road conditions.
The Fort Frances Lakers sit in second place after splitting their games with the Ironwood Lumberjacks.
The Lakers won Friday night 4-2 but lost in a shootout 4-3 Saturday night.
Fort Frances sits three points back of the Ice Dogs with 40 points.
Third place belongs to the Kam River Fighting Walleye with 35 points, but have played 3 more games than the North Stars, who sit in 4th place with 31 points.
The Walleye split their games with the Thunder Bay North Stars over the weekend, losing 8-2 Saturday but blanking the North Stars 7-0 Friday night.
While the league is idle until January 9th, a team of SIJHL All-Stars will take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s university hockey team on January 2nd and 3rd.
