Local Pharmacy Set To Receive Moderna Vaccines

A Thunder Bay pharmacy knows which vaccine they’re getting next week.

A spokesperson with the parent company of the Court Street Safeway confirms in an email to Acadia News Friday night that a Moderna vaccine shipment is expected for the pharmacy before next Friday, May 28.

“It is anticipated that this will be a weekly allotment, but of course is subject to change based on government’s supply,” the spokesperson added.

Four pharmacies, including the Safeway, were administering the AstraZeneca vaccine in the city but ran out of their supply on April 28.

That was by provincial health officials suspending use of the vaccine on May 11 after reports of serious blood clots caused by the shot.
