Local Man Faces Impaired Driving, Drug Trafficking Charges

A Thunder Bay man was arrested after police received calls about a possibly unconscious man in a car.

Officers arrived at the corner of Dease and Simpson Streets Wednesday evening to find the man being treated by Superior North EMS.

It was determined the man showed multiple signs of impairment, leading to his arrest.

A Drug Recognition Expert assessed the man when he arrived at police heaquarters and confirmed he had taken drugs.

Future investigation lead to police finding fentanyl.

Michael Don MCDONALD, 31, of Thunder Bay, is charged with:

• Possession of Fentanyl for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by Alcohol and/or Drugs
• Breach of Probation

He appeared in bail court Thursday, and was released awaiting a future court appearance.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
