Local Eateries Remove Romaine

Some local restaurants are speaking up about the Health Canada warning of E. coli tainted Romaine lettuce.

Village Market told their customers on social media they only use green and red leaf lettuce in their noodle bowls and salad rolls.

The Victoria Inn has also issued a statement on Facebook saying they have removed romaine lettuce from their menu for the time being.

Thunder Bay’s Health Unit has also sounded the alarm over lettuce concerns.

According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, as of yesterday, there have been 18 confirmed cases of E. coli, three in Ontario and 15 in Quebec.
