Kenora Green Candidate Platforms On First Nations Issues

The Green candidate for the Kenora riding says the government needs to stop dropping the ball on mercury poisoning at Grassy Narrows.

In light of a new report that says mercury levels are still rising near the First Nation – 50 years after the pollution first contamined the Wabigoon River – Ember McKillop is making it an election issue.

She’s also calling on the federal government to come forward with full funding for an all-weather road to Shoal Lake.

McKillop says a recent Conservative announcement to get the project started is a drop in the bucket to what’s really needed.
