Kaministiquia resident charged following collision

Early Sunday morning officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were on general patrol along Townline Road in Oliver Paipoonge when they encountered a single motor vehicle collision near Townline Road & John Street.

Through investigation, it was determined the driver of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcoholic beverages and they were subsequently placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

A 29-year-old Kaministiquia resident has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
  • Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available;
  • Have care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available;
  • Fail to have an insurance card;
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the court in Thunder Bay in March.
