Japanese Consulate General To Visit Thunder Bay

The Consulate-General of Japan in Toronto is going to visit Thunder Bay on Thursday to talk about the current state of Japan-Canada relations.

Lakehead University is hosting her speech, and spokesperson Michel Beaulieu tells us trade and economic relations between our two countries have been expanding over the last decade.

“Japan is actually the world’s third-largest national economy, and it is one of Canada’s most important economic and commercial partners. Canadian investment in that country is also significant with over 100 Canadian companies who have a permanent Japanese presence primarily in the automotive industry, IT and the forestry sector.”

The Consul-General will be marking the 90th anniversary of diplomatic relations between our two countries.

The LU official says the Consulate-General will also be meeting with Thunder Bay’s small but over 100-year-old Japanese community.
