Probably the best match ever! Until today, I had no idea that these two days had been paired together and I couldn’t be happier! One of the greatest pleasures in life (for me) is sitting back with a book, a hot cup of good coffee and a plate of homemade cookies. That’s pretty much the perfect mid-afternoon for me on a grey day like today. I haven’t made cookies myself in years, outside of those pre-made ones that you cut off of the tube and stick in the oven. Not my favourite at all, but easy when you’ve got a bunch of hyper kids in the house! Tonight I may just have to try my hand at baking some cookies from scratch for the first time in a long time. Personally, I’m not overly picky about my cookies, but my favorite ones are tied, I think. Chocolate and caramel chip cookies, potato chip cookies (my ex-wife used to make these and I could easily eat a whole batch) and chocolate macaroon cookies. A plate of these three and I’d be in a happy sugar coma for days! What are your favorite homemade cookies? Let me know in the comments below, or you know, feel free to bring me some! 😉
As for coffee, there is absolutely no secret that I am a coffee snob. I will drink pretty much any coffee that’s put in front of me, but I prefer a nice, fresh ground, medium roast served up black. I’ve been known to drink a flat white or latte or two in my time but I really prefer a regular drip or Americano over anything with milk in it. We’re pretty lucky in Thunder Bay to have several local roasters and local coffeeshops stocking this locally roasted goodness! I can’t say that I’ve tried all of them, but I definitely make an attempt to support local as often as possible! I really do enjoy getting up, grinding coffee beans by hand and making my first cup of coffee on the weekend knowing that I’m helping keep some folks in business doing what they love to do. Admittedly, when I’m out doing my errands or running from place to place, I definitely make quick stops in to national chains in order to get that glorious bean juice energy as well. Whatever your coffee passion is, I hope you take some time today to fully enjoy and rejoice in what I like to refer to as the drink of life! I know I definitely will be!
