Inquest into inmate death scheduled in Thunder Bay

An inquest has been scheduled into the death of Sherman Kirby Quissess.

Quissess died in hospital in June 2012, after being transferred from the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre.

The inquest is mandatory under the Coroners Act.

The inquest is examining the circumstances surrounding Quisses’ death.

A jury may make recommendations aimed at preventing further deaths.

The inquest is expected to last 15 days and will hear from approximately 19 witnesses.

It is scheduled to get underway on February 24, at 9:30 a.m.
