The federal government says it’s ready to roll out infrastructure funding in Ontario.
An agreement was recently signed for Rural and Northern Communities and Transit.
Federal infrastructure Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne was in Kenora recently to talk to municipal and First Nation leaders about some of their priorities.
“We have done an agreement with the Province of Ontario for close to $12-billion,” explains the minister.
“Now, what the mayors want to see is action. They want to see shovels in the ground. A construction season is in the coming weeks and we want people to work, and now we need Ontario to be a partner with us in that.”
Champagne says they are waiting for Ontario to also give the okay for the $2.8-billion Green fund and a $407-million Community Culture and Recreation program.
