A total of $2.9 million is be doled out by the province to help fund child and family programs for Indigenous youth.
Five area organization are benefiting.
That includes the Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre which gets $800,000 for a program to help unify families.
Anishnawbe Mushkiki will get assistant through a $250,000 program designed to get about 100 children prepared for school.
$200,000 goes to the social service agency Dilico Anishinabek Family Care to fund a program which will assist troubled youngsters get a good start to life.
