Impaired Driving Charges After Car-Crash

A Thunder Bay man has been charged after police saw him walking away from a single-vehicle collision at the Harbour Expressway and Carrick Street.

Police were called to the scene Monday morning and learned the man drove his sedan into a light post, exited the vehicle, and began walking away from the scene.

Officers say that there were several signs pointing to the driver being impaired, and he was taken to police headquarters where he refused to comply with demands for a breath sample.

The 28-year-old faces charges of:

• Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired
• Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
• Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

Police have not released the suspect’s name at this time.

He was released from custody with conditions and a future appearance date.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
