Impaired Driver Gives Homeowners Early Morning Wakeup Call

A 37 year old city man has been arrested after falling asleep on the horn of his pickup truck early this morning.

Thunder Bay Police received a call from residents on Victoria Avenue East just after 4:30 a.m. to reports of a horn being blown incessantly.

When officers arrived they located the truck 15 minutes later and observed the driver slumped over the steering wheel, activating the horn.

Police then discovered the pickup truck in question, had been reported stolen.

While taking the suspect into custody, officers observed several signs of impairment.

He has been charged with:

• Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
• Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
• Possession of Methamphetamine

The accused appeared in court today and has been remanded into custody.
