Hunting Violation Costs Local Man

A sting operation by conservation officers has cost a Nolalu man a big fine.

Officials tell us they set up a deer decoy on some private property in O’Conner Township last November.

As a result they report Steven Piilo pleaded guilty to shooting at the decoy from the road through his vehicle’s drivers side window.

He also pleaded guilty to hunting earlier that day without a licence.

In total, he was fined $6,500 and was also handed a five year hunting suspension.
