A hunter from Murillo is facing fines for unsafe hunting practices north of Thunder Bay.
On October 14, 2024, conservation officers were conducting a moose hunting enforcement patrol in the Upsala area.
While on patrol, they conducted an inspection on an individual driving through a forest.
The hunter did not hand over his guns for inspection despite multiple requests.
He also obstructed officers by not allowing them to inspect his vehicle.
As a result, the hunter was arrested, and a search of his vehicle resulted in two firearms and live ammunition being found.
The hunter appeared in court on March 5, and pleaded guilty to failing to produce items for inspection and obstructing a conservation officer.
He was fined a total of $3,500.
