How much can Canadian athletes win at the Paris Summer Games?

From this morning’s “TODAY IN THE BAY”:

The best in SUMMER sports will be in the spotlight starting this weekend. The PARIS SUMMER OLYMPICS start on Friday and run thru August 11th. Every time the Olympics are near, this conversation comes up: “Do our Canadian athletes make any money if they win a medal”? The simple answer is: YES. However, not as much as American and some European countries pay out.

Here’s the quick rundown:

BRONZE medal – $10,000

SILVER medal – $15,000

GOLD MEDAL – $20,000.

The Canadian Olympic Committee started paying athletes for medal wins back in ‘97.

FYI – the U.S pays a gold medal winner almost $40,000.
