House Lottery Proceeds Get Divided

Over $450,000 is being distributed to local charities from the proceeds of the Rotary Club house lottery.

Glenn Craig of the Regional Health Sciences Foundation tells us they are on the receiving end once again.

Craig tells us they received the first payment of $100,000 towards the $500,000 pledge for the Our Hearts at Home campaign.

The $14 million fundraising effort will help bring a full heart surgery program to the local hospital.

Also receiving a Rotary grant is the Wilderness Discovery Camp at Lake Shebandowan.

The $100,000 will help keep the summer camp for the disabled in operation.

Other recipients are:

-Thunder Bay Art Gallery: $20,000

-Rotary Shelter House: $2,000

-George Jeffrey Children’s Foundation: $40,000

-Boys & Girls Club: $45,000

-Lakehead Festival of Music and the Arts: $6,000

-Team Unbreakable:$2,500

-RYLA: $4,000

-Wilderness Discovery: $100,000

-70 Squadron Air Cadets: $15,000

-Hospice Northwest: $5,000

-Christmas Cheer: $5,000

The Fort William Rotary Club still has another $100,000 to give away and those announcements, we are told, will be coming in the near future.
