Mayor Keith Hobbs and his wife Marisa will stand trial on obstruction of justice and extortion of charges.
Their co-accused Mary Voss will also go to trial on her single extortion charge.
A date for the trial has yet to be set, but the matter will be heard again in September’s assignment court.
Justice David Gibson gave his decision this morning saying there was enough evidence to proceed.
Hobbs Lawyer Brian Greenspan tells us there’s a low standard that’s applied at a preliminary hearing, and the judge must assume that all the evidence before him is to be accepted.
Greenspan adds he’s confident heading into the trial and feels the Hobbs’ will be exonerated.
There is a media ban in place covering most of the details of the case including witness names. (Photo by Sheri Leviski-Kotyk)
