What is a “bollard”? According to Dictionary.com: “it’s a series of short posts diverting motor vehicles”.
In our case, it’s a “Centre of the road – speed limit bollard”. Have you seen these around town? It reminds you to “slow down in a residential area”, or don’t exceed the posted speed limit. You can’t miss these BOLLARDS, because they’re literally screwed to the asphalt in the middle of the road. I think this is a fantastic idea. They were first implemented a few years ago, as part of a Thunder Bay “traffic calming study”.
There are a couple of these around the corner from where I live.
HOWEVER, my “pet peeve” is this: DON’T PARK PARALLEL TO THIS SIGN. How do you think a vehicle is supposed to squeeze between the sign and your car? It’s a tight squeeze, and I would think one day, somebody is going to scrape your car, or worse. How does someone park their car, get out and say to themselves, “yup, now that’s a great spot to park my car’? WHAT?
Please move your car up from the sign. That’s all.
Cheers to a great day!
