UPDATE 11am: Hammarskjold High Closed Again

Confirmation from Thunder Bay police a threat received around 8 this morning against Hammarskjold High School has resulted in the school being closed today.

The Lakehead Board also posted to its Facebook page the same, while Algonquin, CD Howe and Gron Morgan schools are in a hold and secure, until further notice, as a pre-caution.

The Catholic Board tells us the hold and secure at St. Pius X, Gateway, E.Q. Jennings, Corpus Christi and St. Bernard has been lifted.

Officials with the school say all efforts will be made to open tomorrow.

Students picked up by bus are being returned home, while those without keys to their home are heading over the Superior CVI.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
