Guard Hurt During Attempted Robbery

A 32-year old Thunder Bay man is facing a robbery charge following an incident at the LCBO store on Dawson Road.

Police say they were called to the store just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon.

They found a man and woman tried to leave without paying, when a security guard confronted them.

The security officer and accused man broke through a window during a struggle, in which the guard suffered cuts to his face and neck area.

In spite of the injuries, police say the guard took the man into custody with the help of by-standers.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
