A Thunder Bay company is moving south.
GRK Fasteners has told it’s employees that it will be taking the operation to Chicago by the end of the year affecting about 40 jobs.
The company was sold recently to ITW construction by Thunder Bay’s Uli Walther.
Mayor Keith Hobbs says that it’s a sad situation, but says that’s the risk you take when you sell to an international firm.
Hobbs says the Economic Development Corporation will do what it can to convince the owners to keep the facility on Rosslyn Road open.
