Gravelle Welcomes New Driving Rules

The province of Ontario is matching the penalties drunk drivers face to those who are caught driving while under the influence of drugs.

As of yesterday, the penalty includes a 180-dollar fine, immediate license suspension and vehicle impoundment as well as mandatory education and treatment programs.

Local MPP Michael Gravelle says another part of the plan is to install a device that stops impaired drivers from starting the car.

Gravelle says he is aware the battle in fighting drunk and drugged driving is a never-ending one.
