Grain Shipments Up In October

One of the main economic engines in the city continues to move at a steady purr.

The Port of Thunder Bay saw higher levels of grain shipped out last month compared to October of last year, over 80,000 metric tonnes more.

So far this shipping season there have been 5.2 million metric tonnes of grain which has been loaded up compared to 5.6 million the same period in 2015. Total cargo shipments are also down from a year ago.

Meantime, the number of ships visiting the port is virtually unchanged from last year at this time.
