Google turns 20 today. Hard to believe a company started by a couple dudes in a garage turned into the gargantuan success it is today. Okay, those two dudes were Standford Ph.D. students, but still, super impressive. Have you ever been surprised how, when you google something, somebody has already searched it? It’s like there’s an answer for everything! But apparently a pretty good chunk of the searches are new. 15 percent of the daily searches are ones that haven’t been searched before. That’s pretty crazy considering they average 3.5 billion searches a day! The autocomplete is another fun Google feature. That’s when it pops up suggestions when you start typing. I swear, sometimes they read my mind, or maybe are listening to my conversation because they nail it a lot of the time. Sometimes, though, it’s a window into some strange things people have inquired about before. Here’s a staggering stat about autocomplete: Google figures that it saves over 200 years of typing time daily! One of my favourite features are the Google Doodles. The Doodles are the fun they have with the company’s logo on the search page. They’ve had over 2,000 of them over the years. Today, they have a special video to celebrate turning 20. Check it out to see some of the most popular searches of the last two decades.
