Goldcorp Fined $100K

Mining giant Goldcorp is paying a hefty penalty in connection with an incident in which a mine worker was injured on the job in northwestern Ontario.

The incident took place in October of 2013 at its operation near Balmertown. The employee was struck by a haulage car and suffered cuts and a broken bone.

In Provincial Offences Court this week the company pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay a $100,000 fine.
