More groups will be eligible for that booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Among those that can book their shot on Saturday, November 6th at 8:00 a.m. include:
- People aged 70 and older
- Health-care workers, essential caregivers in congregate settings
- Those who received both doses of AstraZeneca
- First Nations people and their non-Indigenous household members
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit plans to utilize the CLE Grounds for the rollout, which will also be the plan once they get the thumbs up to administer the reduced doses of the Comirnaty vaccine (formerly known as Pfizer-BioNTech) to those between the ages of 5 and 11.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janet DeMille told Acadia News Thursday that those in long-term care and retirement homes as well as any who are immunocompromised have been administered the limited number of booster doses that have been provided by the province.
Keep in mind that between six and eight months needs to have passed since your second dose to be eligible.
Bookings can be made through the province’s online portal, through the Thunder Bay District Health Unit website or at select pharmacies.
Ontario is looking for a broader eligibility for the booster dose starting in January 2022.
