Garfield, and Tell Me Something Good

Here’s some nostalgia to brighten your day. I never thought I’d bring a comic strip to Tell Me Something Good, but… there’s a first time for everything.

It was this month back in 1978, the world met a chubby orange cat with an attitude — Garfield. Jim Davis created him, along with poor Jon and the ever‑optimistic Odie. And from day one, Garfield was all of us: lazy, hungry, avoiding diets, and absolutely refusing to deal with Mondays. But here’s the good part — this simple, silly comic about a cat who just wants lasagna became a global phenomenon.

Garfield ended up in more than 2,500 newspapers, grabbed a Guinness World Record, and built a merchandising empire worth $1 billion a year.
