Former Fort Frances hotel owner charged in Lutsen Lodge fire

Arson charges have been laid against a former Fort Frances hotel owner.

41-year-old Bryce Campbell was arrested near Detroit this week.

He is accused of starting a 2024 fire that destroyed the historic Lutsen Lodge near Grand Marias, Minnesota, south of Thunder Bay.

Officials in Minnesota have laid three charges of arson and a charge of insurance fraud against Campbell, who was the lodge owner at the time of the fire.

He is currently in custody awaiting extradition to Minnesota.

Campbell was also the operator of the former Copper River Inn in Fort Frances.
