Former City Broadcaster Dies Of COVID-19

A former Thunder Bay broadcaster has passed away from complications of COVID-19.

Warren Woods was 66.

Warren worked as a TV sportscaster in the city for six years in the 1980s.

“Woodsy’ then moved to Regina where he became a sports fixture in the Queen City for over three decades.

His family confirms he died Wednesday with his two children by his side.

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe tweeted that he was “Saddened to hear of the passing of one of Saskatchewan’s most popular sports broadcasters, Warren Woods. Saskatchewan lost a great friend today.”

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
