Ford To Talk East-West Tie Line With Hydro One

The last minute decision by Hydro One to apply to construct a transmission line along the north shore of Lake Superior has not been lost on the premier.

Hydro One’s entry has forced a delay in the Ontario Energy Board approving the mega-project.

NextBridge Infrastructure had originally planned to construct the so called East-West Tie Line at a cost of $700 million.

The former Liberal government felt the price was too excessive and that’s when Hydro One came in with a competing bid which claimed they could do it cheaper.

During his visit to Thunder Bay Doug Ford appeared to agree it wasn’t a fair move

“No I don’t think it’s 100 per cent fair, but we’ll sit down and discuss it with them and see where we go from here.”

Hydro One’s entry has forced a delay in the Ontario Energy Board approval of the project and affected people who have been trained to work on the project.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
