FN Chief Calls First COVID-19 Case Scary

The chief of the Fort William First Nation calls the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Thunder Bay “a very scary moment” for the city and his community.

Peter Collins is concerned about the virus getting into the neighbouring First Nation

“It’s a very scary moment for the whole city of Thunder Bay and our community in its entirety because you know how it spreads from one to another and eventually it will grow and grow,” explains Collins.

The First Nation chief says the community will be putting security in place but exactly how that is going to happen still has to be determined adding, “all of the folks that have a business, have jobs here, and work here will be allowed to enter but there are still details” which need to be worked out.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
