Five Rural Mayors and Reeves Acclaimed

A number of politicians in the area are being acclaimed to their positions since no one will be challenging them in the October elections. Those include 3 reeves and 2 mayors.

They are: in Neebing Ziggy Polkowski, Kevin Holland in Conmee, Lucy Kloosterhuis in Oliver-Paipoonge, Rick Kieri in Gillies and Ron Nelson returns for another 4 years in O’Conner. Maria Harding will have to defend the reeves chair in Shuniah township…her opponent is Wendy Landry.

Here is the list of rural election candidates:

Shuniah

Reeve: Maria Harding, Wendy Landry

Councillor: MacGregor Ward Three (3) to be elected: Don Smith, Donna Blunt, Ron Giardetti, Grey Hay, Marcel Tardif

Councillor: McTavish Ward- One (1) to be elected: Jo-Anne Hamelin, Bob Zale, Duff Stewart

Oliver Paipoonge

Mayor: Lucy Kloosterhuis (acclaimed)

Councillors: Four to be elected: Alana Bishop, Jim Byers, Dan Calvert, Eric Collingwood, John Lower, Bernie Kamphof, Allan Vis

O’Connor

Mayor: Ron Nelson (acclaimed)

Councillors: Four to be elected Kevin Foekens,Gwen Garbutt, Jerry Loan, Bishop Racicot, Jim Vezina

Conmee

Mayor: Kevin Holland (acclaimed)

Councillors: Four to be elected: Bob MacMaster, Cathy Woodbeck, L.O. Pajamaki, Grant Arnold, Sheila Maxwell

Gillies

Reeve: Rick Kieri (acclaimed)

Councillors: Four to be elected: William Groenheide, Henry Jantunen, Karen O’Gorman, Wendy Wright, Rudy Buitenhuis

Neebing

Mayor: Ziggy Polkowski (acclaimed)

Councillors: At Large: Erwin Butikofer (acclaimed)
